June 17: Skun

Our trip schedule changes  daily!!
Unexpected exams and the King's mother's birthday thrown into the mix remind my why these schedules are written in pencil.

Today (Tuesday) we started at 7:30am (Kimna wanted to leave at 6:30 but we just could not).
Shawna, Lanie, Juli, Fred and Kitty went to Skun with Kimna and 5 of our university students.
Juli passed out Dramamine to the girls, but there was still a bit of car-sickness in the way back during the 2 1/2 hour trip.

Mr. Touch was waiting roadside for us...his wife, our EC, is in PP recovering from surgery.
There were only 3 of our 5 girls waiting...2 had exams.

It was really interesting to have the 5 university students interacting with these younger girls, as well as having Shawna there to add her insights into what is going on with these kids, not to mention her interpreting skills added to Kimna's.
I think Kimna really appreciated the help since she has been suffering from a cough.

Two of the 3 girls we met with had exams at 1:00pm so we did not go to their homes, but just interacted at the EC's home.
They shared their dreams for the future as well as some school related thoughts.
It was a long trip back but fun to share and get better acquainted with Kimna!
She is soooo smart and has a great sense of humor.

Lanie, Juli, Shawna, Kitty and Fred freshened up then went off to lunch.
Shawna was the first to remark about concerns for one student. Fred and I had also noticed some not so good changes.
She bears keeping an eye on.

These face to face visits are really important!
Body language and appearance all add to our knowledge of their well-being.

Tomorrow is a 6:00am start for the trip to Svay Rieng!
A long day it will be, but just as fulfilling as all the others.
